11 Giant Companies To Be Commissioned In Ogun State



Eleven new giant companies will soon be commissioned in the Ogun state, making it a total of 385 the assumption of the present administration under Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

This was disclosed today October 7 by the former state commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, while fielding questions from lawmakers during his screening exercise today in Abeokuta.



Ashiru, a high chief from Ijebu Ode is among the potential commissioner list sent to the House by the state governor,  Ibikunle Amosun last week for screening and confirmation by the lawmakers.

The banker turned politician also disclosed that in the last four years, the state government have created about 100,000 both skilled and unskilled jobs for the teeming youths.

He said: “The government in the last four years has created job for over 100,000 people and we are still eager to do more. Some of my achievements in office in the last dispensation was to move the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the second position from the 20th in the area of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“We also disagreed with the outcome of some international bodies who declared the state to be number 35 in the country from the index of doing businesses.

“We wrote them and expressed our displeasure about their findings and we were invited. The three bodies are the World bank, World Health Organisation (WHO) and the DFID. These are the bodies that are conducting the research.

“After much discussions and explanations with facts and figures placed on the table for them, they agreed with us that we are not where they placed us and after their findings again, by today, I want to say that we are now ranking third in the country.

“As we speak today, the Ibikunle Amosun led administration has attracted a lot of industries to Ogun and in few weeks to come, eleven more companies will be commissioned by the president.



“They are ready for commissioning but we are just asking them to give us some time.”
The Ijebu Ode born banker turned politician maintained that a lot of opportunities are still lying untapped in the state, promising to do more than what he did in the last dispensation.”

He however concluded that the Ogun has in the last four years, risen to a commendable position in the comity of states in the country through the ability of Ibikunle Amosun administration.
