Which Teams Have Qualified for EURO 2016?

The race to qualify for EURO 2016 is heating up ahead of the last round of fixtures to be played on Sunday October 11, Monday October 12 and Tuesday October 13, 2015.

The biggest talking point so far in the qualification stages has been the form of Wales who qualified for their first international tournament in 57 years.

The British nation had never before qualified for a UEFA European Championship – their most significant achievement being to reach the quarter-finals of the 1976 edition, when the tournament was still a four-team event.

Group A: Iceland, Czech republic have already qualified with one round to go. Turkey lead the Netherlands by two points and also boast a superior head-to-head record. If Turkey manage a draw on Tuesday, the Oranje will miss their first UEFA EURO finals since 1984.

Group B: Belgium, Wales are through to EURO 2016. Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have been the star men so far while Eden Hazard has shone for Belgium.

Bosnia and Herzegovina moved up to third with that victory and Israel’s 2-1 home loss to Cyprus. The Dragons will clinch a play-off slot if they prevail in Cyprus.

Group C: Group winners Spain will defend their title in France next year having qualified as group winners. If results go their way Slovakia and Ukraine could join La Roja.

Group D: No team has automatic qualification but Germany, Poland and Ireland are all assured of a top-three finish. Germany can qualify with a win or a draw against Georgia. If they lose they will come third if Poland and Ireland draw.

Poland will reach the finals if they beat Ireland or hold them to a 0-0 or 1-1 draw.

Group E: England, Switzerland are through to Euo 2016 as the top two teams of group E. England have a 100% record in the qualifications. Slovenia can only be denied a play-off if they lose their final game and Estonia win by a five goal margin that overturns Slovenia’s goal-difference advantage.

Group F: Surprisingly Northern Ireland are through to their first ever UEFA EURO and their first major tournament since the 1986 FIFA World Cup after topping a group containing Romania, Hungray and giant killers Grecce.

Group G: Austria are surprised group winners (qualified already) while Russia are second, two points clear of Sweden with a superior head-to-head record ahead of the last round of matches.

Group H: Six straight wins ensured that Italy qualified for EURO 2016 though the Azzuri do not have a stand out player like Lewandowksi for Poland or Gareth Bale has for Spain. Norway, guaranteed a play-off berth, are two points behind Italy and as many above Croatia.

Group I: Cristiano Ronaldo will be glad Portugal have qualified for EURO 2016 despite not producing his top form on a regular basis during qualification.

Denmark and Albania have secured at least a play-off berth. The Danes have completed their campaign and will go through as runners-up if Albania do not win in Yerevan.

Serbia dissappointingly cannot qualify despite boasting talents like Ivanovic, Stefan Jovetic, Adem Ljajic, Nemanja Matic, Nenad Tomovic, Dasan Tadic and Alexander Mitrovic

David Guetta has been to work on the EURO 2016 anthem. Spain are the current holders of the competition having beaten Italy 4-0 in the 2012 final.

France is the host country and have already qualified for tournament.
