Arsenal Injury News: Francis Coquelin Out For The Rest Of Season, Not Three Months

The manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger and all the fans of Arsenal must be ruing the loss of Francis Coquelin to a knee injury in the game against West brom over the past weekend.

In a bid to retrieve a lost ball, Coquelin twisted his knee and damaged his ligament and will be out for several weeks.

Reports from French media giant L’Equipe stated that the 24-year-old will be out for at least three months. The anchor midfielder will sorely be missed as he has become a key figure in the midfield of Arsenal and will take much effort from Flamini not to make his absence felt.

However, a disappointed Wenger has giving an update on the team ahead of their Champions league match with Dynamo Zagreb.

“It looks difficult to have players to come back,” Wenger said as quoted by The Times. “I can rotate a bit within the squad but Ramsey will be short [of fitness] and Chamberlain will be short — and they’re the two closest.

“It is a difficult moment. In the past two games we’ve taken one point from six and that is very difficult and very disappointing when you’re on such a great run. We have to come back quickly and focus.”

Meanwhile, Ramsey has returned to training and Arsenal be hoping he makes a quick return. He will certainly be used to play the midfield position of Coquelin. And it should not surprise anyone if Coquelin is actually out for the rest of the season. Knowing Arsenal, it seems the club deliberately never tell the truth on injury situations.

For instance, Welbeck was said to be out for just one month but has been out for over four months now. Could the same fate befall Coquelin? I won’t be surprised one bit.
