Kanye West |
They say honesty is the best policy, and if Kanye West somehow ends up as president, we can at least expect him to speak his mind – for better, or for worse.
During a recent two-hour interview with Lou Stoppard of fashion website SHOWstudio, West touched on several big “what if” questions concerning his potential presidency -- although he first confirmed that yes, he actually, seriously, for-real-for-real is running.
West initially revealed his political ambitions at the August MTV VMAs, where it seemed like a spontaneous declaration. His wife, Kim Kardashian, recently told Ellen Degeneres that even she had no idea about the announcement. Well, sorry Kim, but…he’s been keeping some secrets. During his SHOWstudio interview, the rapper revealed that he’s been eyeing a seat in the Oval Office for five years.
One of West’s biggest strengths as a producer and artist is his ability to collaborate, an asset he says he’d bring to the White House for “problem solving for the world." He’s even turned the talent into a potential campaign slogan, telling Stoppard at one point “It’s not about me, it’s we.”
Despite being more than four years away from a possible election run, West has already mulled over how he’ll approach the debates. He said, “When I just don’t know I’ll say ‘look I don’t know, I’ll get back to you with that.'"
And when asked by Stoppard about if he’d run with a party or as an independent, West replied: “I don’t have all the answers right now.”
